| Established in 1954, Dewey
County Conservation District is located in North Central South Dakota.
The area is gently rolling and is drained by the Moreau River. The eastern
boundary of the district is the Missouri River and the Cheyenne River
forms the southern boundary. Farming and ranching are major agricultural
activities with flax, wheat, cattle and hogs primarily produced in the
area. Dewey County along with Ziebach County is the home to the Cheyenne
River Indian Reservation. The Little Moreau State Recreation Area is located
in the north central part of the district. The Dewey County Conservation District works with other local entities in identifying the conservation needs of the area. The districts primary activities include tree planting, grass and crop drill rental and providing assistance to local landowners. | ||
