Getting Started

To learn more about protecting natural resources and how to put conservation to work for you contact your local conservation district or the USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service. These trained professionals will provide you with the information and tools necessary to implement conservation on the land.

The Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) is helping to remove highly erodible lands and environmentally sensitive areas from cultivation. During the CRP contract the lands are improving with increases in organic matter.

No till farming practices are helping to reduce wind and water erosion in South Dakota. To learn more about no till farming in South Dakota visit the SD No-till Association.
