| Coteau Area | Area Overview The Project addresses four impaired water bodies in the Coteau area: South Buffalo Lake (1780 acres), South Red Iron Lake (610 acres), Nine Mile Lake (282 acres) and White Lake (187 acres). White Lake has a watershed area of 22,348 acres, while Nine Mile Lake, South Buffalo Lake and South Red Iron Lake together have a combined watershed area that totals 43,385 acres. Due primarily to agricultural activities, high levels of nutrients (particularly phosphates), siltation and excessive levels of algae impair all of the lakes. |
