Area Overview The Project addresses six impaired waterbodies in the South James/Missouri area: Academy Lake (31 acres), Lake Andes (235 acres), Corsica Lake (110 acres), Dante Lake (19 acres), Geddes Lake (70 acres), and Lake Platte (140 acres). The lakes represent a combined watershed area of 664,771 acres. The lakes experience high levels of nutrients (particularly phosphates),
siltation and, with the exception of Corsica Lake, excessive levels
of algae. Corsica Lake has lower algae densities. The impairments are
due primarily to agricultural activity. |
