Area Overview The Vermillion-Big Sioux watershed area includes Lake Thompson (16,200 acres) Whitewood Lake (4,967 acres) and Lake Preston (5,222 acres), with a combined watershed of 263,044 acres. Due primarily to agricultural activities, high levels of nutrients
(particularly phosphates), siltation and excessive levels of algae impair
all of the lakes. |
