Sustainable Southwest Beef Project On-Ranch Demonstration

Learn about heritage Rarámuri Criollo cattle, characteristics of beef from heritage-breed cattle, technologies for precision ranch management and more.Lunch and dinner provided.

Registration: Attendance is free, but RSVP is required so we know how much food to provide.

Grazing School in Wall, SD

The Grazing School is designed for producers and anyone with an interest in learning how to best manage grasslands to benefit livestock.

Governor's Ag Summit in Huron, SD

The South Dakota Governor’s Agricultural Summit is an event that brings together policymakers, industry leaders, producers, and prospective farmers from South Dakota’s farming and ranching communities. It’s a platform for sharing experiences, developing personal connections, and discussing topics such as ag-economic market outlook, policy updates, industry tours, and producer recognition.

Rangeland & Soil Days in Watertown, SD

Soil Days and Rangeland Days are educational events focusing on different aspects of natural resource management. Soil Days teaches teenagers aged 14-18 about different soil properties and how to evaluate land for various uses. Rangeland Days are open to people from 8 years old to adults and cover plant identification, rangeland ecology, and hands-on field activities. Both events include competitions where participants can test their knowledge and skills.

SD Range Management Workshop in Sturgis, SD

Range Camp is a packed three days of hands-on learning from a variety of range management specialists and experts. This is a great opportunity for early career range/soils/partner folks to “get their feet wet” and become familiar with not only SD range, but also the extensive network of partners we have. The 2024 theme is focused on the foundations of range management. Topics covered will include but are not limited to range soils, ecological sites, state and transition models, plant ID, and prescribed burning as a management tool.
